This section addresses four topics that often are overlooked in reports such as this one. Current unemployment often is cited, but little explanation comes with it. You get the unemployment rate, but no details about what that rate means, who are unemployed, how long they’ve been unemployed or how the change since last month or last year compares with expectation. The other topics, labor force participation, turnover and labor force entrants, often are ignored.

But we believe that information about these topics provides a deeper level of knowledge and understanding. And we’re pretty sure that some of this information will make you go, “Hmmm,” too.
